Does anyone have or know of any solutions or Ideas how to reduce "Carb Icing" on a Powered Paraglider.

Carb icing is an occurance depending on the water content of the air, the carb will cool the air pressure drop alters temperature through the carb venturi) sometimes causing the water in the air to freeze. The most obvious thing to stop this is dont fly in damp conditions. you can also ensure the surface (internals) of your carb are smooth and not rough so water particle move over rather than sticking to it. you can also purchase a carb heater baseplate, that can be turned on when you think you may be flying in conditions likely to cause icing.

Had similay problems on an rotax 447. I added an electric carb heater which sorted it. However while I was waiting for the carb heater I used a fuel additive to reduce the problem. The additive is designed for 2 stroke motorbikes which have the same problem. Silkolene FST Pro is the stuff. It worked for me for a while. Regards Wayne

not just a winter problem...can occur anytime during the year usually between around -10 and +20 degrees C ambient if the relative humidity is high
